Fullarton James

1946

Born in Glasgow, 1946. Painter in oil and acrylic of portraits, still life landscapes, semi-abstract and topographical subjects. Studied at Glasgow School of Art under David Donaldson 1965-1969 since when he has been a full-time professional artist living and working in Ayrshire. In 1976 received the David Cargill Award and 1986 the Britoil Award, both from RGI. Uses a broad sensual palatte with colour as the dominant feature, his landscapes being in the Cadell-Peploe tradition. First solo exhibition in Glasgow 1975. Exhibited RSA (9) since 1978 and GI (48) from 1976. Represented in Lillie AG (Milngavie), Greenock AG, and Royal College of Physicians, Glasgow.
